A week later....
The grand banquet hall of a luxury hotel was filled with elegant decorations, soft music, and hundreds of guests dressed in traditional outfits.
Most of them were business partners and family friends of the Maheshwari and Adhikari families.
Right at that moment, a tall figure dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit entered the hall.
Dev Maheshwari.
As he walked through the corridor toward the hall, several girls couldn't stop staring at him.
“Wow…”
“He’s so handsome…”
“Is that Dev Maheshwari?”
Dev politely smiled at them while walking.
“Thank you… thank you…”
He finally entered the banquet hall and was immediately surrounded by business partners greeting him.
“Namaste, sir.”
“Hello, Dev!”
“Congratulations!”
Dev kept smiling politely while greeting everyone.
“Namaste… hello… yes, thank you…”
After a while, he finally managed to escape the crowd and stood near a table to breathe for a moment.
Just then, a girl wearing a grey lehenga came and stood beside him.
Dev glanced at her and gave a polite smile.
“Hey… hi.”
The girl looked at him and simply rolled her eyes before looking away.
Dev blinked.
“Did she just… roll her eyes at me?”
He pressed his tongue against his cheek in irritation.
“What attitude…”
Just then a waiter walked toward them carrying drinks.
“Sir, drinks?”
Dev picked up a glass of wine.
“Thank you.”
Then he took another glass and offered it to the girl beside him.
“Here.”
She looked at the glass… and refused without a word.
Dev sighed.
“Fine. Don’t take it.”
He placed the glass back on the tray.
But suddenly his attention shifted.
At the entrance of the hall, a girl had just walked in.
She was wearing a soft pink dress with delicate jewelry, and her long hair flowed gracefully behind her. Under the golden lights of the hall, she looked almost unreal—like a doll.
Dev’s eyes froze.
“Wow…”
He whispered to himself.
“Who is she?”
The girl walked calmly through the hall and headed toward the stage.
Dev kept staring at her.
“She’s… beautiful.”
Then reality suddenly hit him.
He slapped his forehead lightly.
“What are you doing, idiot? You're getting engaged today and you're staring at other girls.”
But his eyes still wandered back to her.
“She looks so calm… so innocent…”
Then he glanced at the girl in the grey lehenga beside him.
“And then there’s… this one.”
He sighed.
At that moment, Dev’s father approached him.
“Dev, come to the stage.”
Dev straightened his suit.
“Alright… let’s just get this over with.”
He walked toward the stage and stood there, waiting for the bride to arrive.
Meanwhile, the girl in the pink dress walked up and stood beside him.
Dev turned toward her and smiled politely.
“Oh… hi.”
He assumed she was the host of the event.
“Are you the host for tonight?”
She looked at him calmly.
“No.”
Dev frowned slightly.
“Then why are you standing here? This place is for the bride.”
The girl looked straight into his eyes and said softly,
“I am the bride.”
Dev froze.
He leaned closer and ask....“What?”
“My engagement is with you,” she said quietly.
Dev slowly turned his head and looked at the girl in the grey lehenga standing near the table.
Then he looked back at the girl beside him.
“You mean…”
She nodded gently.
“Yes.”
Dev let out a deep breath and whispered to himself,
“Thank God…”
A small smile appeared on his face.
At least the bride was the calm and beautiful girl he had noticed earlier.
Soon the engagement ceremony began.
A tray with rings was brought to them.
Dev picked up the ring and looked at her hand.
"May I?”
She extended her hand silently.
Dev carefully placed the ring on her finger.
Then she looked at him.
“May I?”
Dev nodded and offered his hand.
She slipped the ring onto his finger.
The entire hall burst into applause.
The guests cheered and congratulated the couple.
The photographers started taking their pictures.
"Sir please shift closer to ma'am".
Dev hesitated but she shifted herself close to Dev and dev smiled while looking at her. He was so flustered.
Soon music started playing and many couples began dancing.
Some guests invited Dev to dance with his fiance as well, but Dev politely refused.
He was still trying to process everything that had happened that night.
After some time, the party ended and Dev quietly walked out of the hall.
As he walked down the corridor toward the exit, he suddenly felt like someone was following him.
He turned around.
It was her.
“Why are you following me?” Dev asked, slightly annoyed.
“Uncle told me to.”
Dev sighed.
“Uncles say a lot of things. Go ask them instead of following me.”
Dev's cold behavior towards her is making her sad from inside. It's breaking her.
Will Dev ever change his attitude towards her.
